RAPID SLURRY FORMING
Higher quality casting, more economical production and more environmental friendly.
By controlling the heat energy and the structure of the crystals in the melt, you gain many
advantages, compared to conventionel high pressure die casting.
Rubustness comes from the fact that the heat energ is controlled instead of the temperature.
• A rod with a cast part is submerged into the melt.
• The part on the rod is rotated. In the boundary between the part and the melt, crystals are formed during the melting of the solid part. The crystals formed are rounded (A), in contrast to cnvetional casting where a dendritic (B), tree-like, structure is developed.
• After 5-10 seconds the semi-solid slurry is ready for casting. The rounded shape of the crystals are a prerequisite for creating pore-free castings.
A. Round crystal
B. Dentritic crystals
